Paul started out with General Motors in 1986. Paul was an automotive technician for 16 years and was awarded Grand Master technician status through General Motors multiple times during his tenure as a technician. The Grand Master Technician award is the top award given to technicians which put then in the top 5% of the best technicians in Canada.
